Introduction
AMP invites talents from all over the country to participate in our first-ever National Dabka Competition during Palestine Convention 2023 this upcoming Thanksgiving in Chicago, IL. The participating dabka bands will perform LIVE on stage during the convention and the audience will also vote LIVE for the best performances.
Age Groups
- Group A – Children Dabka:
- Under 13 years old
- Boys & girls together if under 10 years old
- Separate gender groups if over 10 years old
- Group B – Youth & Adults Dabka:
- 13+ years old
- Males only
Admission Process
- Fill out the registration form on this page
- Submit a video sample of your band’s dabka for review and approval
- Submit the song lyrics you will play for review and approval
- The competition committee will reach out to admitted bands with further details
- Enrollment in the competition will end on Nov. 1st, 2023
Rules & Regulations
- Each band should consist of no less than 6 members
- Each dabka performance should be between 4-6 minutes
- A traditional uniform is encouraged, but unified clothing is a MUST
Judging Criteria
Accumulation point system judging based on live voting from the audience.
Prizes
- Each age group will have 3 winning bands:
- First Place: $3,000
- Second Place: $1,500
- Third Place: $500
- All 3 winning groups will get a special trophy
Other Incentives
- Free convention registration for all band members and coaches (up to 2 coaches)
- Each band will be given a small meeting room to practice
- One complimentary hotel room for 2 nights for the coaches
- Each band member and coach will be given a discounted registration code (50% off) for up to 2 family members
- The winning band coach will get a $200 cash gift
