What are we discussing this year?
Election 2020
Palestine... Working for Justice
As we draw closer to the 2020 election season, issues related to Palestine and the Muslim community have become a focal point in our national conversation. From the Kushner deal to the proposal of bills attempting to criminalize BDS, matters affecting our communities are at the center of national debate. It is imperative that we take advantage of the positioning of these topics at the forefront of our national dialogue; we must focus on the strategic placement of Palestine.
Social justice organizing in the political arena should be centered on assessing what is already underway and positioning ourselves to take advantage of the forces that are at play, both those working with and against us. Candidates must be held accountable for their policy positions when it comes to Palestine, and our community should be informed regarding what type of legislation candidates in various races plan to support.
The AMP conference this year seeks to concentrate its various tracks on examining the various dimensions and implications of these issues in relation to this contentious election season.
